Welcoming & Belonging

Baptism

“He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to His own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit.” Titus 3:5

In Baptism, God calls us to life in Christ. It is the foundational step in the life of faith, a visible promise of God’s grace and a welcome into the family of God.

At the earliest opportunity, Baptism occurs once in the life of a Christian. Families or individuals meet with a pastor to talk through the meaning of baptism and plan a date to celebrate it during a worship service.

Shaping the Home

“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

This step helps families begin building rhythms of faith at home—centered on God’s Word and lived out in everyday life.

Parents and children learn to shape their home through Scripture, prayer, hymns, and blessing, while growing together in grace and modeling a life of faith that nurtures children in every stage of their development.

Growing in Faith

First Bible

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, thankfulness in your hearts to God.”Colossians 3:16

The First Bible milestone step helps parents show their children how God’s Word is a precious gift to us—revealing His love, guiding our lives, and drawing us closer to Him each day.

Students and families grow in using the Bible together, becoming familiar with God’s Word, practicing habits of daily reading, and holding onto key verses that shape faith through both His Law and Gospel.

Family Altar

“And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.” Deuteronomy 6:6–7

In congregational worship, households come together as one growing family to hear the Word, receive the forgiveness of sins, respond in thanksgiving, and share in God’s gifts and ministry. At home, families can serve as a little congregation; worshipping God everyday.

Heads of household are encouraged to adopt daily practices of prayer, devotion, and blessing - and to lead their families gather themselves around these gifts regularly in the home.  This can be as simple as praying before and after meals, reading from a picture Bible and making use of the Lutheran Service Book

God’s Word and Worship

First Communion

“For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you…For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.” 1 Corinthians 11:23–26

First Communion is a meaningful step in a Christian’s faith journey, where they are prepared to receive the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper and understand their participation in the fellowship and unity of the church.

Children prepare with their parents in a multi-week class, followed by a meeting with a pastor. First Communion is then celebrated during the Maundy Thursday worship service (or earliest possible).

Confirmation

“But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you;” 1 Peter 3:15

Confirmation is a significant step in a young person’s faith journey, where they affirm the promises made at their baptism and joyfully express the timeless truths of God’s Word in their daily lives.

Students prepare through a season of learning, conversation, and reflection, growing in their understanding of God’s Word and what it means to live as His people, culminating in a public affirmation of faith during a worship service.

Relationships and Life Conversations

Living with a Telos

“I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:14

Living with a Telos (Greek for “goal”) invites couples and families to see their life together through God’s greater purpose—centered on Christ and shaped by the hope of life with Him.

Couples reflect on marriage as a one-flesh union, being called to serve God together, and parenting as a calling to raise children in the faith—partnering with the church to shape home life aimed at God’s Kingdom.

Honor God and Each Other

“Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.” Ephesians 4:29

Honoring God and Each Other invites students and families to see themselves and one another through God’s eyes—valued, respected, and deeply loved.

Through guided conversations, parents and teens explore what it means to honor God in everyday life and to treat one another with care, respect, and grace in their words, choices, and relationships.

Serving and Living Out Faith

Preparing to Serve

“For the commandments…are summed up in this word: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’” Romans 13:9

Preparing to Serve helps students begin to think about their future through the lens of faith—seeking to follow Christ and serve others in the years ahead.

Students and families reflect on vocation, explore how to keep Christ at the center of decisions like college or next steps, and consider practical questions about calling, finances, and how best to love and serve their neighbors.
